I was born and raised in Springfield, Minnesota and hold a Bachelors degree in Journalism from Marquette University. I am currently a MFA candidate at Georgia State University focusing on the photographic and moving image.
I make lens-based images and video that aim to critique our stratification systems by subverting dominant narratives into micro-narratives that are personal and agile, often emphasizing encounters that go unnoticed or that are altogether undervalued. Although most of my images are fixed and still, I do not believe in stasis. Our definitions, histories, actions, beliefs, and value systems hold a deep malleability. How can each of us create interactions and experiences that counteract this static illusion of fixed categories and absolutes?
